The Ask
Sbjct Journal is an online magazine that features extraordinary individuals from a range of industries and offers a platform to spark conversation about subjects and causes that inspire and move them. The identity features a system of hand drawn and handwritten elements that add a personal and playful touch to the contrasted typography. Our team worked to create editorial and web designs to express the ethos of the brand.
The handwritten logo sbjct: changes with every new featured individual and the signature red colon is found throughout the branding as Sbjct’s icon.
The Process
As a contributor on this project, I wanted to learn and grow from my mentors who shaped the direction, but let me contribute my own eye and aesthetic early on, encouraging me to play, iterate, and create new things. I consider this one of the building blocks of my design eye, a hands-on experience and project that let me flex my creative skills early on, and give me confidence in my innate abilities.
