Family Tree Mural

Created custom illustrated murals for a shelter specializing in family care for people experiencing homelessness.

This was a really rewarding experience, and the main thing I wanted to do was create something that could spark the imagination of kids, with calming colors that made them feel comfortable, and fun little nods that could lift their spirits.

There were two murals painted, first on particle board, then installed in the play rooms of the facility.

Each mural featured fun animal characters, and weird little nods like flying fish, creating a world that could spark imagination and take the kids out of

I started by creating a palette of colors and we mixed custom paint swatches to bring the murals to life. First, we used a projector to trace the structure of the murals, and then took those outlines to the site, where the kids from the center painted the mural themselves, letting them play and have fun, and feel ownership over their artwork that would be on their walls.
